Union, N.J. (11/16/24) – The Kean University football team fell to #7 Salisbury University by the final of 58-28 on Saturday afternoon in their season finale.
Salisbury, winner of the New Jersey Athletic Conference's automatic bid and NJAC regular season championship, improved to 10-0 and 5-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Sea Gulls used just two plays on their first possession to get on the board as Syrus McGowan rushed half the field for a quick 7-0 lead.
They would go on to score four more between the first two quarters and took a large 35-0 lead.
The Cougars responded and engineered an 11 play, 68-yard drive, capped by a six-yard reception from Rocco Pellegrini to Justin Leigh to put Kean on the board before the break.
Trailing 42-7 in the third quarter, Kean used over seven minutes on the clock to push 71 yards down the field for their second touchdown of the afternoon, this time a six-yard rush for John Perry, who just entered the game.
Chris Amos, who already registered an interception on the day, made a splash at the beginning of the fourth quarter as he scooped up a bad snap at the goal line and brought it the length of the field for a touchdown, the second fumble recovery touchdown for him in as many weeks.
The Sea Gulls added two more scores and recorded a safety as Sherman Hatton collected a sack in the endzone.
Kean closed out the scoring as the Cougars blocked a punt late in the quarter that was picked up by Danny Wong and returned for a touchdown.
