Men’s Basketball Rallies to Upset #15 TCNJ

UNION, N.J. (12/7/24) – Four starters scored in double-figures as the Kean University men's basketball team rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat the #15 College of New Jersey Lions, 82-77 in their New Jersey Athletic Conference home opener on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED!!!
  • TCNJ opened the game on a 9-3 run, including going 4-for-4 from the floor.
  • The Cougars responded with a 10-5 run to cut the lead down to 14-13.
  • The Lions answered with a 25-12 run that pushed their lead to the largest of the game at 39-23 with 3:09 remaining.
  • D.J. Alicea and Ethan Stith scored back-to-back buckets in the final minute as Kean trailed 44-33 at the half.
  • In the second half, the Lions held a double-digit advantage for the first 10 minutes.
  • Four straight baskets helped Kean bring the lead down to five at 65-60 with 9:20 to play.
  • A Matthew Okorie three-point play, and a David Alexandre triple helped the Lions push their lead back to double-digits at 71-61.
  • Kean closed out the contest on a 21-9 run over the final 8:29, including a 17-4 run in the final 5:34.
  • Adam Silas had six points during the run as the Cougars went 7-for-9 from the charity stripe down the stretch.
