Union, N.J. (12/7/24) – The Kean University women's basketball team suffered a 74-56 defeat to The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions (5-2, 3-0 NJAC) used a strong second quarter to take a 36-28 lead at the break. Leading by just three (29-26) with just under four minutes to go in the period, TCNJ used a 7-2 run to close out the first half.
The College of New Jersey then scored the first bucket of the third quarter and led with a double-digit advantage for the final 19 plus minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Grace Kowalksi led all players with 25 points for TCNJ who shot just 39% for the contest. The Lions benefited from 10 three-pointers, four from the hands of Nina Branchizio, who ended the day with 22 points.
For the Cougars, Maddison Vaughn had a double-double 17 points and 16 rebounds while also blocking seven shots and collecting three steals. Riley Ahrens led the squad with 18 points.
