Union, N.J. (2/12/24)David Ciaccio tossed six innings of one run ball to help Moravian University to a 3-2 win over Kean University on Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Moravian (1-0) struck first with two runs in the top of the third.  With one out Matt Madigan walked and Dan Olsakowski reached via a hit-by-pitch.  Later with two outs and both runners going, Paul Hamilton found the gap, driving them both home.

The Greyhounds added one more in the top of the fourth as Justin Otero connected for an RBI single, bringing home Nick Henry who reached on a leadoff walk.

Kean (1-1) clawed back in the bottom of the fifth as Steve Petrosh led things off with a single and put himself into scoring position by swiping second.  A fly ball moved him to third and Dominic Masino erased the shutout with a sac fly.

The Cougars added one more in the bottom of the eighth as Christian Pellone got things started with a double.  Relief pitcher Noah Ingalls then got two quick outs, but Brett Hilsheimer registered a two out single into the gap to inch the Cougars closer.

Ingalls picked up the save after his infielders helped close the door in the bottom of the ninth with two nice plays (up the middle and at the hot corner).
