Rutgers-Camden Pushes Past Men’s Basketball

UNION, N.J. (2/7/24) – Four players scored in double-figures as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Rutgers-Camden, 79-73 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED!
  • The Cougars trailed for most of the opening stanza.
  • Camden stretched their lead to the largest of the half at 24-16 behind an 8-2 run.
  • Kean battled back and took their first lead of the game on a D.J. Alicea triple with 44 seconds remaining.
  • JD Daniels scored five points down the stretch, including making two free throws after a flagrant 1 foul by Cameron Downs, for a 39-33 halftime advantage.
  • Alicea and Daniels combined for 24 first half points.
  • Kean opened the second half on a 7-1 run, behind five points from Daniels.
  • Camden responded with a 7-2 run, which cut the Cougars lead to 43-41.
  • After trading buckets, Kean took their final lead of the game on an Ethan Stith layup with 11 minutes to play.
  • The Scarlet Raptors never trailed again despite Kean cutting the lead to inside three at different junctures.
  • Kean went 8-for-19 from the floor over the final 11 minutes, while Camden finished 9-for-12, including 10-for-15 from the line.

  • Stith totaled 14 points and five assists.
