Clermont, Fla. (3/9/24) – The Kean University softball team split in day one action at the Spring Games, falling to #19 Lebanon Valley College, 8-7 and defeating Trinity (Connecticut), 9-5.
Game One - LVC 8, Kean 7
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was a see-saw battle that ultimately saw Lebanon Valley pull through with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.
After trading single runs in the first inning, Kean blew the game open as Eliza Filus recorded an inside-the-park grand slam.
Leb Val regained the lead in the third inning with five runs and six hits and one Kean error.
Pinch-hitter Lauren Paulk put the Cougars back on top in the fifth with a two RBI double and a 7-6 lead.
With runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Lindsey McCurdy hit a walk-off triple for the comeback win.
Game Two – Kean 9, Trinity 5
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars used a strong first inning to push past Trinity in the nightcap, scoring seven. Highlighting the inning was a two run homer from Bella Truelove, an RBI single from Maya Thompson and an RBI double from Melody Caces after batting around.
Leading 7-4 heading into the sixth, Kean added insurance with an RBI triple from Thompson and an RBI single from Andee Perseponko.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Thompson and Caces were each 3-for-3 with Thompson adding two runs scored and two RBI while Caces had one run scored and one RBI.
Olivia Quercia recorded the win.

Kean faces University of Rochester and Skidmore on Sunday.
