Carlisle, Pa. (9/21/24) – The Kean University football team suffered a 21-14 loss at Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first quarter, Dickinson got on the board with excellent field position thanks to a blocked punt by Alex Merrifield. One play later, Presley Egbers found Diante Ball for a short pass and Ball scampered the rest of the way for a 31-yard touchdown reception.
With less than a minute to go in the half, the Red Devils used a big 69-yard reception from Bobby Markey to set up first and goal from the three-yard line. Three plays later they found Ball again for a 14-0 lead at the break.
Dickinson made it 21-0 scoring off their first possession in the third quarter with a 75-yard drive that took over seven minutes off the clock.
The Cougars responded and scored on the next drive as Aly Marzouk rushed for a 25-yard touchdown.
Kean went right back to it and with their next possession pulled within seven as Julian Jones rushed for a 24-yard touchdown, capping a 64-yard drive.
The Cougars had two opportunities to tie things up with their best shot coming midway through the fourth quarter. Starting at their own 40-yard line, Kean marched into the redzone as Christian Bujno caught a 25-yard pass. The Cougars got as close as the three-yard line but turned the ball over on downs.
Kean found themselves at the exact same spot, their own 40-yard line with just over a minute to go in the contest, but an interception ended the second half rally.
