Union, N.J. (1/29/25) – The Kean University women's basketball team evened their record in conference play with a 63-55 win over Ramapo College on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (9-10, 6-6 NJAC) led wire-to-wire, but the Roadrunners (2-17, 1-11 NJAC) kept them on their toes, keeping the gap close for most of the game.
Kean pushed out to an early 8-0 lead in the first two minutes, but Ramapo later pulled within one (15-14) in the final minute of the first quarter using a 10-0 run.
The Roadrunners kept the deficit in single digits for the entire second stanza as Kean led 30-24 at the break.
A trey from Brittany Graff gave Kean what would be their largest lead of the day with 6:32 to go in the third quarter (39-27).
Another shot from behind the arc from Graff helped seal the victory for Kean with one and a half minutes to go in the contest (60-51).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Graff led all players with 17 points. She added five rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
Maddison Vaughn finished the night with a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds while also adding five steals.
Cara McCoy rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points and six rebounds.
For Ramapo, Alison Ahern recorded a double-double 13 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
