Women's Volleyball Tops Lasell in NCAA Opener

Medford, Mass. (11/20/25)Cayley Elena Morrison recorded 22 points in helping the Kean University women's volleyball team earn their first win in NCAA tournament play, topping Lasell University, 3-0, in the opening round held at Tufts University.

Kean 3, Lasell 0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-22)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Cougars (30-5) raced out to an 8-0 lead, aided by four kills from Morrison.  Kean never trailed in the opening set, using that cushion along the way.

The tables turned to start the second as the Lasers (25-4) used key blocks and aces along with some Cougar miscues to push out to an 8-3 advantage.  Kean adjusted and flipped things back in their corner with a 7-0 run behind the serving of Madeline Dohogne. From there it was a back-and-forth affair.  Lasell gained some momentum and used a three point push to take a 23-21 lead.  But back-to-back kills from Morrison evened things right back up.  Morgan Bogli put Lasell up 24-23, but Alison Kowalewski responded with a kill of her own to knot things at 24-all.  A Lasell setting error gave the Cougars an advantage and Morrison sealed the set with another kill.

The third set played out similarly to the second, which each team trading leads and ties.  Tied at 22-all, the Cougars rolled off three straight points on two more kills from Morrison along with a Laser miscue.
