Men's Basketball Bests Baruch

Union, N.J. (11/22/25) – The Kean University men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to top Baruch College, 61-51, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a slow first 11 minutes of action, both teams were knotted at 12-all.  The Cougars (2-2) used a short 8-3 run to give some distance.  Kean pushed the advantage out to double-digits as time was expiring on a bucket from Braelen Crump (29-19).

The Cougars led the entire second half, but the Bearcats got as close as five (50-45) with just over four minutes to go.  Kean iced the win with nine free throws down the stretch, for their first home win of the young season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Kareem Irby and Malachi Jeffers-Viera led the squad with 12 points each.  Daniel Dextraze posted a double-double 11 points and 17 rebounds. Crump finished with nine points and four assists.

UP NEXT:

Kean remains home and will open NJAC play on Tuesday evening, facing Stockton University.
