Union, N.J. (11/25/25) – Stockton University used a strong first half to push past the Kean University women's basketball team, 61-52 in the NJAC opener for both.

The Ospreys (4-1, 1-0 NJAC) led or were tied wire-to-wire, but the Cougars made things close on several occasions.

Stockton jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Cougars (0-3, 0-1 NJAC) answered right back with a 7-0 run of their own, anchored by six points from Erika Mercedes.

The Ospreys chipped away and led by eight after the first period.  Stockton kept that momentum in the second stanza and pushed their advantage out to double-digit points, leading by as many as 15.

The Cougars ended the game on a strong run, dwindling the deficit from 19 points (59-40) to just nine (61-52) in a three minute span.

Dacia Mack led Kean with 12 points while Mercedes finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  Maya Edwards contributed with nine points and Brooke Sztenderowicz added five points and seven rebounds.

Kean enjoys a holiday break and will return to NJAC action on Wednesday when they host Ramapo College.
