Muhlenberg Sweeps Softball in Season Opener

UNION, N.J. (2/25/25) – The Kean University softball team was swept in a doubleheader with Muhlenberg College to open the 2025 season on Tuesday afternoon.

GM 1: Muhlenberg 11, Kean 3 (5 Inn.)
  • The Mules notched six runs over the first two innings, which included a three-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the second.
  • The Cougars cut the lead in half with three runs in the second.
  • Brianna Sciulli, Gina Mahlik and Andee Perseponko notched RBIs in the inning.
  • The Mules answered with three runs of their own in the top half of the third, including an RBI double from Morgan Bobrowski.
GM 2: Muhlenberg 5, Kean 4
  • The Cougars rallied from a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Emma LeCour knocked in a run, before Sam Niewiarowski, Natalie Stannard, and Kiley Allen all scored on Muhlenberg miscues.
  • The Mules posted back-to-back RBI doubles in the fifth and sixth to take the lead back at 5-4.
  • Maya Thompson had a chance to win the game in the seventh, but her long fly ball was caught at the wall.
