Baseball Edged by St. Joseph's Long Island

Union, N.J. (3/27/25) – The Kean University baseball team suffered their third straight loss, falling to St. Joseph's University Long Island, 6-5, on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kean (16-5) scored two runs in the first inning without the aid of a hit, thanks to four walks to start the bottom of the inning.

The Golden Eagles (10-8) got one back in the top of the second with an RBI single.

St. Joseph's tied things up in the third with another RBI single and they took the lead for good with a sac fly in the fifth.

John Lynch recorded a two out, two RBI single in the sixth to push the advantage out to 5-2.

The Cougars rallied in the same inning as Kyle Adorno tripled home Dominic Masino who led off the inning with a walk.  Matthew Del Sol lofted a sac fly one batter later to pull Kean within one (5-4).

The Golden Eagles added insurance (and what later turned out to be the winning run) in the seventh with a single run off a fly out to short right field.

Kean threatened in the bottom of the ninth, scoring one and had the tying run at third, but St. Joseph's was able to work out of the jam for the win.
