Softball Rallies to Sweep FDU-Florham; Acker Notches 600th Career Victory

UNION, N.J. (3/4/25) – Gina Mahlik finished 3-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI as the Kean University softball team rallied in both games to sweep FDU-Florham and give Head Coach Margie Acker her 600th career victory.

GM 1: Kean 2, FDU-Florham 1
  • FDU struck first in the second when a Mahlik throwing error allowed the Devils to cross the dish.
  • Brianna Sciulli evened the game in the fifth with an RBI single that scored Natalie Stannard.
  • The winning run crossed the plate on the very next at-bat as a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Kiley Allen to score.
  • Allen finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.
  • Nikki Lusnia tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts.
GM 2: Kean 11, FDU-Florham 3 (6 Inn.)
  • The Devils posted three runs in the top of the first on a homerun, a wild pitch and a throwing error.
  • Maya Thompson recorded an RBI in the first, followed by Mahlik scoring from second on the catcher's throwing error that rolled to the wall.
  • The Cougars did most of their damage in the fifth with eight runs on four hits and three errors.
  • Mahlik, Allen, Sciulli, Kylie Petak, Thompson and Samantha Raymond all notched RBI in the inning.
  • Mahlik finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
  • Sciulli and Thompson both went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's.
  • Anabella Farinha tossed 3 1/3 innings to earn the victory in relief.
