Baseball Powers Past North Carolina Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, N.C. (3/7/25) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 17 runs on 16 hits to pick up their 10th win of the season by defeating host North Carolina Wesleyan University, 17-10 on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

CJ Tomalavage gave Kean (10-1) a quick advantage with his fourth homerun of the season, a three-run shot in the top of the first.  The Battling Bishops answered with two of their own in the bottom of the same inning.

The Cougars added three more in the second and three again in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead.

After trading single runs, NCWU tied things up with a seven-run, fifth inning, using just two hits and taking advantage of four walks.

Kyle Adorno gave Kean the lead for good with an RBI triple in the seventh and added insurance with four runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Noah Rivera improved to 2-0 with his second relief win.  He allowed just one hit and no runs while tossing four and two thirds innings.  He also struck out four.

Offensively Adorno and Justin Teixeira combined for six hits and seven RBI from the top two spots in the order. 

In all Kean connected for seven extra base hits.
