Baseball Tops NJCU, 5-2

Union, N.J. (4/3/25) – The Kean University baseball team never trailed in a 5-2 win over visiting New Jersey City University on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Back-to-back doubles from Kyle Adorno and Tyler Stone opened up the scoring for Kean in the first.

The Gothic Knights (9-11-1, 0-3 NJAC) tied things up in their half of the second on a two-out single from Chris Rosario.

Kean (19-5, 3-0 NJAC) took the lead for good in the bottom of the second has Nick Sellari doubled with one out and came around to score on an RBI triple from Dominic Masino.  Justin Teixeira drove in Masino one pitch later with an RBI single.

CJ Tomalavage launched a no-doubter in the fourth for his seventh homer of the season to put Kean ahead, 4-1.

NJCU scratched across a run in the seventh with a two-out single from Enrique Beltra.

Kean closed out the scoring in the same inning as Dan Reistle lofted a sac fly, scoring Stone who reached on a single.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Stone, Tomalavage, Sellari and Masino all were 2-for-4 with a run scored.

On the mound, Rob Salvatore earned the win.  He allowed one run on six hits with five strikeouts.

Chris Urbanik picked up the save after tossing two scoreless, hitless innings.

The two teams square off again tomorrow.
