Union, N.J. (9/27/25) – The Kean University football team fell to visiting WestConn on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action by the final of 38-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wolves (3-0) were first to get on the board in the first quarter as Aarion Johnson connected on a 26 yard field goal.
The Cougars (1-2) took the lead on their next possession, using 16 plays and driving 90 yards. Facing a 4th and 8 on the WestConn 28, Rocco Pellegrini found Christian Bujno for a 16-yard completion. Senior Justin Leigh capped off the drive on the next play with a 12-yard TD reception. Anthony Lopez converted the extra point as Kean would take their only lead of the day, 7-3.
The Wolves defense set up excellent field position later in the quarter as Kile Jackson's interception put WestConn in the redzone. Two plays later, WestConn was back on top, 10-7.
WestConn added a touchdown in the third quarter for the only points of the frame. Markus Faucett's six-yard reception gave the Wolves a 17-7 advantage.
Early in the fourth it was Faucett again, this time with a one-handed grab over a defender in the back corner of the endzone, extending the lead to 24-7.
WestConn added two more strikes down the stretch to remain undefeated.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Senior Chris Amos recorded six tackles, one interception (for 33 yards) and a breakup. Rodney Acquah led the defense with 10 total tackles.

Kean opens NJAC play on Saturday, hosting Montclair State University during Homecoming weekend. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
