Football Falls to WestConn

Union, N.J. (9/27/25) – The Kean University football team fell to visiting WestConn on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action by the final of 38-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wolves (3-0) were first to get on the board in the first quarter as Aarion Johnson connected on a 26 yard field goal.

The Cougars (1-2) took the lead on their next possession, using 16 plays and driving 90 yards.  Facing a 4th and 8 on the WestConn 28, Rocco Pellegrini found Christian Bujno for a 16-yard completion.  Senior Justin Leigh capped off the drive on the next play with a 12-yard TD reception.  Anthony Lopez converted the extra point as Kean would take their only lead of the day, 7-3.

The Wolves defense set up excellent field position later in the quarter as Kile Jackson's interception put WestConn in the redzone.  Two plays later, WestConn was back on top, 10-7.

WestConn added a touchdown in the third quarter for the only points of the frame.  Markus Faucett's six-yard reception gave the Wolves a 17-7 advantage.

Early in the fourth it was Faucett again, this time with a one-handed grab over a defender in the back corner of the endzone, extending the lead to 24-7.

WestConn added two more strikes down the stretch to remain undefeated.
