New Paltz, N.Y. (9/27/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team had their 10 game win streak snapped, defeating USMMA 3-0 and falling to St. John Fisher, 3-0.
Kean 3, USMMA (25-14, 25-14, 30-28)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (13-2) trailed early in the contest, but used a 6-0 run to turn a two-point deficit (12-10) into a 16-12 advantage. Madeline Dohogne recorded two aces in the run. Kean finished off the set with eight straight points as Victoria Latino registered three aces of her own.
Kean never trailed in the second stanza, with runs of six and five points respectively along the way.
The final set was a see-saw affair. Kean led late (24-19) but USMMA rallied for six straight points to take a one point advantage (25-24). The Cougars tied things up at 28-all on a Cayley Elena Morrison kill and two attack errors on USMMA gave Kean the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Rookie Ashley Torok connected on 11 kills while Morrison finished with a team-high 12 while hitting .556. Dohogne recorded 14 digs and four total aces.
St. John Fisher 3, Kean 0 (29-31, 19-25, 23-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In a matchup of two one-loss teams, the Cardinals pulled through with the straight set win. Statistically both teams hit in the 200s while Kean recorded less errors (19-12). The Cardinals registered more kills (56-38) but the Cougars connected on more blocks (9-2).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Torok registered 14 kills while Dohogne had 17 digs. Aspen O'Brien recorded 11 digs and 25 assists good for a double-double.
