Women's Soccer Falls to Rutgers-Camden, 1-0

UNION, N.J. – The Kean University women's soccer team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) clash against Rutgers-Camden on senior night at Alumni Stadium, 1-0.

Kean (6-6-1, 1-3) was held to five shots, two of them coming off of the foot of Ella Petrosh. Between the pipes, Brooke Ginsberg made five saves.

Rutgers-Camden (7-1-3, 3-1) tallied 18 shots, putting six on frame, led by Cadence Serrano's four.

The Scarlet Raptors applied pressure early, forcing Kean goalkeeper Ginsberg into several first-half saves. Ginsberg kept the visitors off the scoreboard through the opening half-hour before Gianna Simon broke through in the 31st minute, finishing a pass from Ava Stowell to give Rutgers-Camden the 1-0 advantage.

Kean looked to respond before halftime, with Petrosh recording a shot in the 41st minute. However, Rutgers-Camden carried its one-goal lead into the break after out shooting Kean, 12-2, in the opening half.

The Cougars continued to search for the equalizer after halftime, generating three shots in the second stanza. Ella Petrosh and Elizabeth Reisbord each put a shot on target, but Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper Giselle Lizardi turned aside both attempts to preserve the shutout.

Kean will look to rebound when it returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a road conference matchup against Stockton.
