Football Tops William Paterson on Homecoming

Union, N.J. (10/24/26) – The Kean University football team never trailed as the Cougars topped William Paterson University, 30-15, during its annual homecoming celebration on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.

Kean started with good field position near midfield late in the first quarter and took just three plays to get in the endzone as Ty Kline's 32-yard pass found Jason Marasciulo deep.

Three drives later, the Pioneers evened things up as Tyler Brookes capped a 62-yard drive with a three-yard rush.

The Cougars responded immediately, again starting the drive around midfield.  It was Christian Bujno this time who was on the receiving end of a 19-yard reception to put KU ahead 13-7.  The extra point failed and William Paterson's Terrill Yankson returned the ball 94 yards for the defensive PAT and two points.

William Paterson started with the ball in the second half, but gave Kean great field position as a low snap on fourth down forced their punter to corral the ball near the ground and inadvertently taking a knee.  Inside the redzone, Kean needed just two plays to go up 20-9 as Kline's 13-yard pass found Marasciulo for his second touchdown of the day.

The Cougars added one more touchdown early in the fourth quarter with Kline's fourth touchdown of the day, a nine-yard strike to Sal Marchione.

With just under four minutes to go the Cougars put three points on the board as Anthony Lopez connected on a 31-yard field goal.

The Pioneers rounded out the scoring late as backup quarterback Bobby Paglia connected on a 23-yard reception to Jaiden Sposito.  The ensuing kick failed.

Kline was 26-for-40 for 268 yards and four touchdowns.  Marasciulo registered 97 yards on five receptions and two touchdowns.

Rookie Cole Dessicino recorded two interceptions on the afternoon to help the defense.

Kean travels to Vermont State Castleton next Saturday.
