New Paltz, N.Y. (10/6/26) – The Kean University women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in conference play with a win over the Hawks on Tuesday evening.
Kean 3, New Paltz 2 (25-10, 25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 15-10)
The Cougars (8-7, 3-0 NJAC) cruised to an early 1-0 lead with a 12-0 run in the first set.
Tied at 22-all, Kean used a NP attack error and two kills from Cayley Elena Morrison to pull out to a 2-0 advantage.
The Hawks took advantage of two Cougar errors to end the third set, forcing set #4. The momentum swung and New Paltz took a quick 10-2 lead to start the fourth and kept the advantage to force a deciding fifth set.
Leading by one at the midway point, Kean used a 5-1 run with two aces and two kills to pull away for the match win.
Morrison led the Cougars with 17 kills, a .481 attack percentage and three blocks.
Ashley Torok recorded 12 kills, 14 digs and seven aces while Abigail Carpenter registered eight kills and four blocks. Penney Hardesty collected seven kills and four blocks.
Kean returns home to face Ithaca College on Friday evening.
