Union, N.J. (2/18/26) – Quanajah Felder nailed a buzzer-beater trey to spoil senior day for the Kean University women's basketball team as Rutgers-Newark won 79-76 to close out the 2025-26 season.

The game was a true see-saw affair, featuring five ties and 10 lead changes.

The Cougars trailed by as many as 18 points early in the third quarter, but fought back and tied things up at 59-all on a bucket and one from Maya Edwards with two minutes to go in the third period.

A three-pointer from Edwards gave Kean the lead (62-61) heading into the fourth period.

Rutgers-Newark took back the lead and held onto it for six minutes of the fourth quarter before the Cougars chipped away to take a four point lead (76-72) on a three-pointer from Erika Mercedes with just over two minutes to go in the contest.

The Scarlet Raiders knotted the game back up at 76-all on back-to-back layups from Kyala Askew-Branch with under a minute to go.

Kean had one more opportunity with single digits on the clock but a miss left Rutgers-Newark with four seconds and the timeout advancement.  Felder gave them the win with a trey from the left wing as time expired.

Sadie Brodie finished with a game-high 30 points for Rutgers-Newark while Edwards and Mercedes had 23 and 22 respectively.
