Late Surge Sends Rutgers-Camden Past Women's Basketball

Union, N.J. (2/7/26) – Rutgers-Camden used a late surge to pull past the Kean University women's basketball team by the final of 76-61.

The teams traded points early as Rutgers-Camden pulled out to an 18-12 advantage after 10 minutes.

The Scarlet Raptors gained a little momentum and pushed the lead out to double-digits heading into the break, 37-24.

Kean fought back and brought the deficit down to single digits on several occasions in the final 20 minutes.  The Cougars came as close as six (51-45) with just under nine minutes to go in the contest on a jumper from Maya Edwards as part of her team-best 19 points.  Rutgers-Camden then surged and rolled off a 24-5 run over the next seven minutes to put the game out of reach.

Edwards added five assists and three steals while Cara McCoy registered 13 points and seven rebounds with three steals.  Makaila Desire finished just shy of a double-double (10 points and nine rebounds) and Peyton Smith rounded out the double-digit scoring recording 12 points and four steals.

Courtney Edmundo led the Scarlet Raptors with an impressive 20 points and 20 rebounds.

Kean returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to William Paterson University.
