KINGS POINT, N.Y. (3/14/26) – Back-to-Back fourth quarter goals from
Miguel Lontok and
TJ Mills vaulted the Kean University men's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED!!!
- After falling behind 3-1 in the first, the Cougars would take their first lead of the afternoon behind three straight goals.
- Oliver Lugo, Aarin Arbore, and Aaron Boccio posted a goal apiece as Kean held a 4-3 advantage early in the second quarter.
- USMMA scored twice, before Lontok tallied his second goal of the first half to pull the Cougars even at 5-5.
- The Mariners tallied a goal with under two minutes to play in the half as USMMA took a 6-5 lead into halftime.
- After an even third quarter which saw two goals from Arbore, the Cougars exploded for six fourth quarter goals.
- Kean notched four of the six goals over the first eight minutes, which gave the Cougars an 11-9 advantage midway through.
- The Mariners would even the contest at 11-11 after capitalizing on a Jonathan Ruff locked in illegal body check that led to back-to-back man up goals.
- Kean would push the lead back to 13-11 with goals by Lontok and Mills in nearly a 30 second span.
- USMMA would cut the lead to one with a score inside the final minute, but a key John Westbrook save preserved the victory.
