Ewing, N.J. (4/26/26) – The Kean University baseball team swept The College of New Jersey 12-3 and 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Kean 12, TCNJ 3 (Game One)
The Cougars led from start to finish, scoring in bunches along the way. Highlighting the first inning was a two RBI double from Cole McGourty and highlighting the fifth was a two RBI double from Dan Reistle. Tyler Stone made it 11-1 in the seventh with a two RBI single.
Offensively McGourty and Stone each finished with three RBI while Stone recorded three hits.
On the mound, Jason Basilicata earned the win with his second start. He allowed three runs and scattered 10 hits (nine singles) in eight innings of work. He walked just one and fanned five.
Kean 3, TCNJ 2 (Game Two)
The Cougars needed to rally in the nightcap, falling behind 2-0 after three innings of play. Kean got on the board with a single run in the fourth thanks to an RBI triple from Santino Czarecki.
The score would remain that way until the ninth. Reistle singled to lead things off and Nick Sellari moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice. Masino walked on four straight pitches and Justin Teixeira walked to load the bases. Jude Clough worked another walk to tie the game at two-all. Stone helped push across the go-ahead run with a ground ball.
The Lions got the tying and winning runs aboard in the bottom of the ninth, but Noah Rivera was able to close the door with a groundout and strikeout to end the threat.
JT Abrusci was 3-for-4.
Rivera earned the win in relief. He did not allow a run in two and a third innings, striking out two and walking none.
Kean will host a first round NJAC game this Tuesday against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
