Baseball Splits with Stockton

Union, N.J. (4/4/26) – The Kean University baseball team split in NJAC action on Saturday against Stockton University.

Stockton 6, Kean 5 (Game One)

The teams squared off in a see-saw battle in the opener.  Stockton lined a solo shot in the first to take a quick 1-0 lead.

Kean answered in the second as Nick Sellari doubled home two to take the lead.

The teams traded single runs in the third before the Ospreys took the lead for good in the fourth with two RBI singles (4-3).

Stockton added two more in the ninth, before the Cougar comeback fell just short in the bottom of the ninth.  Tyler Stone singled home two and moved to second after a John Chiusano walk, but Stockton was able to get a strikeout to end the game to secure the 6-5 win.

Tim Welch earned his first win of the year on the mound after tossing eight innings allowing nine hits and five runs.  He walked three.

Kean 19, Stockton 4 (Game Two)

The Cougars exploded for nine runs in the first inning to take a comfortable advantage.  Kean collected eight singles and three walks after sending 14 batters to the plate.

Later in the fourth leading 11-0, Dan Reistle beat the incoming rain burst with a homer to right (12-0).

During the small downpour, the Ospreys broke through with back-to-back homers, the first a three-run shot.

Kean added seven more in the eighth with four hits, three walks and two hit batters.

Justin Teixeira was 4-for-6 with four runs scored and three RBI.  Sellari was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Anthony Marano (4-0) earned the win.  He tossed six innings allowing three earned runs and three hits.  Anthony Holtje earned a save after throwing the final three innings allowing just one hit and two walks.

Kean has one day off before facing Ramapo in a makeup game on Monday.  The game will be at Jim Hynes Stadium.
