Late Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Past St. Thomas (Texas) in Rain-Soaked Affair

NEWARK, N.J. (9/27/26) – Allan Palma Romero notched the game-winner in the 88th minute as the Kean University men's soccer team earned a 2-1 non-conference victory over the University of St. Thomas (Texas) Celts in a rain-soaked affair at Mal Simon Stadium on the campus of NJIT.

HOW IT HAPPENED!!!
  • In the first half, Juan Orozco turned back seven Celts' shots on frame.
  • Kean would get on the board first as Thomas Cortes scored on a loose ball in the 36th minute.
  • The second half saw more of the same, until the 76th minute when Roberto Sepulveda was sent off with a red card after denying a scoring opportunity.
  • Despite playing with a man advantage, the Celts equalized the game in the 79th minute.
  • The Cougars would get the game-winner after Palma Romero scored on a tap home at close range after a double assist from Cortes and Christian Rua.
