Veteran coach Norm Schoenig joins the Cougar staff in his first season in 2018.
Schoenig collected a career record of 724-409-11 while at the helm of the Montclair State University baseball program for 26 seasons. Known to many as "Moose", Schoenig led the Red Hawks to two Division III national championships capturing the title in 1993 and 2000. He guided MSU to a national runner-up finish in 1998, a third-place showing in 2001 and took the program to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship seven times overall. In addition, Schoenig led the Red Hawks to five New Jersey Athletic Conference titles.
Schoenig’s Red Hawks produced 18 All-Americans and had 15 players sign professional contracts.

A two-time ABCA/Diamond NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year, Schoenig is one of only three Red Hawk coaches to be active when they were inducted into the Montclair State Athletics Hall of Fame. He earned that honor in 2011.
For his accomplishments, Schoenig was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017. He is a lifetime ABCA member and also served several years on the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee. He served on numerous ABCA committees and was a member of the ABCA Board of Directors.

Prior to taking over the head coaching job at Montclair State, Schoenig served as an assistant coach for the Red Hawks under Fred Hill, who later served as the long-time head coach at Rutgers-New Brunswick. The two are now reunited, both serving as assistants under Ioviero.
Prior to coming to Kean, Schoenig served for three seasons on the coaching staff at Rutgers-Camden.
Schoenig graduated Montclair State in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
