Former Cougar Mike Shaughnessy will return to his alma mater for the 2015-16 men’s basketball season as the associate head coach. Shaughnessy had been a student assistant with the Cougar program since graduating from Kean in 2013 with a degree in recreation administration.

In addition to his work at Kean, Shaughnessy is the founder and owner of LabWork Basketball Elite Skills Training, LLC since 2014 and was the assistant girls’ basketball coach at Mainland Regional High School from 2014-15.

Shaughnessy was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Cougars from 2009 to 2013. A balanced contributor on both ends of the floor, he racked up 339 points, 338 rebounds and 370 assists during his four seasons with the Cougars.
