Former Cougar Simone Smith joins the Kean University women’s basketball coaching staff for her fourth season on the sidelines in 2022-23.

Smith comes to Kean after a head coaching stint with the Girls Basketball team at Rahway High School. In addition, she was also an assistant and the Head JV Coach of the Girls Basketball team for three years.   

As a player, Smith averaged 9.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game over four seasons in a Cougar uniform (2009-10 - 2011-12, 2013-14). She totaled 856 points, 525 rebounds, and 108 blocks in 1814 minutes logged. Smith was named the team MVP following the '13-'14 season. 

Smith earned a B.S. in English Education from Kean in 2014 and is currently an English Teacher at Rahway High School.
