Men's Soccer Falls to Rowan, 1-0
GLASSBORO, N.J. (10/21/06) - The Rowan
University men's soccer team defeated New Jersey Athletic
Conference (NJAC) opponent Kean University, 1-0, on Saturday night.
The victory improves the Profs' record to 9-7-2 overall and 3-4-1
in the NJAC. The Cougars are 7-6-5 overall and 3-3-2 in the
conference.
Rowan sophomore forward Jay Vigilante (Manasquan,
N.J.) scored the game winner with 24 seconds remaining in
the first half on a shot from the edge of the penalty area. The
unassisted goal was his fourth of the season.
Rowan had a 19-11 advantage in shots, with Prof senior goalkeeper
Anthony Clemente (Kendall Park, N.J.) recording
five saves for his fourth shutout. Kean junior Kyle Crego
(Ocean City, N.J.) collected eight saves in 69:43 for the
Cougars. Rookie Chris Chaban (Hillside, N.J.) made
one save after replacing Crego.
The Cougars host William Paterson University in the NJAC regular
season finale on Wednesday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m.
