Men's Hoops Falls to Wilkes, 83-73
WILKES BARRE (12/19/06) - Senior guard Bryan Keller (Piscataway,
N.J.) scored 19 points, however the Kean University men's
basketball team fell to host Wilkes University, 83-73, in
non-conference action on Tuesday evening.
Keller hit five three-pointers for the Cougars (8-2), while junior
guard Matt Gould (Brodheadsville, Pa.) scored a game-high 21 points
for Wilkes (5-2).
Wilkes led by as many as 11 points in the first half, before taking
a 40-33 lead into halftime. Keller had eight points for the
Cougars, while junior guard Jeremy Kable (Highspire, Pa,) paced the
Colonels with 12 points, including four three-pointers.
The Cougars quickly cut the deficit to 40-36 on a three-pointer by
Keller to open the half, however Wilkes used a 19-7 run over the
next seven minutes to take a 59-43 lead with just under 13 minutes
remaining.
Kean pulled to within five points on a pair of occasions, the last
with 4:39 left on a layup by senior forward Brett Wyatt (Elizabeth,
N.J.), however the Colonels connected on 6-of-8 from the foul line
over the last minute to seal the 10-point victory.
Seniors Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) and Steve Koenigstein (Toms
River, N.J.) each finished with nine points for the Cougars.
In the victory, freshman forward Tom Kresge (Brodheadsville, Pa.)
added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
