Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Year,

Pomona, NJ - Junior Val Davison (Cranbury/Princeton) scored her
first goal of the season to give Richard Stockton (5 -1-1) a 1-0
victory over Kean (NJ) in the opening of the NJAC schedule for both
teams today. The Ospreys now have a six-game unbeaten streak
(5-0-1).
Courtney Dougherty (Ocean City/Ocean City) added an assist for
Stockton and goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee) recorded six
saves in the winning effort. Kean goalkeeper Samantha Groh (Mason,
MI/Mason) also recorded five saves in the losing effort.
The lone goal was scored early in the first half, as Davison was
able to shoot past Kean goalie Groh and give Stockon a 1-0 lead
with a tally at the 12-minute mark. Kean had a few opportunities
throughout the first-half game but Rogers was up for each challenge
keeping the the Cougars off the board.
Kean looked to tie the game with about one minute remaining in the
game, however, it was another key save for Rogers who registered
her second shutout of the season.
Kean will be back home Wednesday, October 20th against
Rutgers-Newark in an NJAC game.
