Gibbs Caps Rally Past Ramapo, 2-1

Mahwah, N.J. (9/30/06) - Kean University rallied for two goals in the second half including the game winner from freshman Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) as the Cougars topped Ramapo College, 2-1 this afternoon in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cougars improved to 4-3 and 1-1 in conference play, while the Roadrunners suffer their fifth loss of the year and fall to 4-5 and 1-1 in the NJAC.

Ramapo raced out to a 1-0 lead when Devin Flynn scored just four minutes into the contest. The Roadrunners held onto that lead until early in the second half when senior Vicki Eger (Washington, N.J.) scored unassisted 2:37 seconds in the half. Six minutes later junior Caitlin Slemmer (Glendora, N.J.) fed a pass to Gibbs who smacked home the game winner at the 43:02 mark of the game.

Kean out shot Ramapo 13-7 in the win, while the Cougars held a 14-3 advantage in penalty corners. Cougar freshman goalie Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) made three saves in the win.
