TCNJ Slips Past the Cougars, 2-1
UNION, N.J. (10/13/07) -
Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Groszew (Denville,
N.J.) made 16 saves, however the Kean University women's
soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 game to third ranked The College of
New Jersey in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday
evening.
TCNJ junior forward Jamie Kunkel (Mount Laurel,
N.J.) scored the game-winning goal with just over 21
minutes remaining, as the Lions (12-0-1, 5-0-1) held a 32-2
advantage in shots over the Cougars (7-6-2, 3-3-1).
After a scoreless first half, the Lions got on the board early in
the second half as senior Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hill,
N.J.) picked up the loose ball in the box and found the
back of the net for the 1-0 lead in the 48th
minute.
The Cougars tied the game up just over five minutes later, as
senior forward Michelle Fischer (Scotch Plains,
N.J.) scored off the assist from sophomore forward
Kristin Cizek (Manalapan, N.J.) in the
53rd minute.
In the 69th minute, Kunkel netted the game-winner
from the right side as the Lions remain undefeated this season.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, October
16th, when they travel to Western Connecticut State
University for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
