Men's Soccer Blanks CCNY, 8-0
Union, N.J. (10/15/07)- Kean
University used a combination of six players to combine on their
fourth shutout of the season as the Cougars defeated visiting City
College of New York, 8-0, Monday night at Kean Alumni Stadium.
The Cougars (6-10) jumped on the board with two quick goals in
the first two plus minutes of play as senior Anthony Tuesta
(Clifton, N.J.) notched the game-winner with a header off
a pass from senior Damien Serafin (Wallington,
N.J.) at 1:54. Thirty seconds later, sophomore
Paulo Brandao (Rahway, N.J.) took a pass from
Tuesta to give Kean an early 2-0 advantage.
Kean tacked on six goals off 16 shots in the first half on their
way to the win.
Senior Thomas Fink (Hamilton, N.J.) had a goal
and assist on the night while sophomore David Scott
(Orlando, Fla.) finished with two goals.
The Cougars outshot CCNY, 34-7, while also holding a 6-1 advantage
in corner kicks.
Senior Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.), freshman
Alfredo Oquendo (North Plainfield, N.J.) and
sophomore Jeff Soares (Ocean Township, N.J.)
combined for four saves in goal for the Cougars.
Freshman Taiwo Alabi (Queens, N.Y.) had nine
saves for the Beavers (3-11).
Kean will head on the road to take on the College of Staten
Island on Wednesday, October 17th at 4 p.m.
