Rowan Women's Soccer Blanks Kean, 2-0
GLASSBORO, N.J. (10/20/07) - The Rowan
University women's soccer team shut out Kean University, 2-0 in a
New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest on Saturday night.
The Profs have won six straight games to improve to 14-2 overall
and 7-1 in the conference. The Cougars have a 7-8-2 overall
record and a 3-4-1 NJAC mark.
For the Cougars, Goalies Nicole Groszew (Denville,
N.J.) and Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.)
stopped five and one shot respectively in the net.
Forward Michelle Carrocino (Mickleton, N.J.)
gave Rowan a 1-0 advantage when she knocked in a pass from
midfielder Krista Verzi (Delran, N.J.) at
23:23. Verzi added an unassisted goal at 25:48.
Goalkeeper Sarah Volkomer (Glen Rock, N.J.)
made three saves for her third shutout of the season, as Rowan held
a 10-8 advantage in shots.
Kean hosts William Paterson University on Wednesday, October 24,
at 7:30 p.m., in the Cougars final regular season home game.
