Cougars Sail Past Elmira, 5-1

Hoch (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.) recorded two goals, including
the game-winner as Kean University defeated visiting Elmira
College, 5-1, Saturday evening in field hockey action at Kean
Alumni Stadium.
Senior Alli Green (West Deptford, N.J.),
playing in her final regular season home game, tallied two assists
in the win as the Cougars improved to 10-5 overall.
Kean jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as sophomore
Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) registered
the game's first goal at 6:26 off a Green assist followed by Hoch's
first goal of the night at 9:19.
The Cougars would tack on two more goals early in the second
half before the Soaring Eagles (4-11) broke up the shutout as
Casey Ross (Whitney Point, N.Y.) scored an
unassisted goal in the 53rd minute.
Sophomore Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.)
had three saves while freshman Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown,
Pa.) had one in limited action as they combined for the
win. Jalene McCulloch (Belleville, Ontario)
had 10 saves for Elmira in just under 60 minutes of work.
The Cougars outshot Elmira 22-9 while also holding an 11-7 edge
in penalty corners.
Kean will return to action on Saturday, November 3rd
in their final regular season game at Rowan University.
