Stevens Moves Past Kean, 16-6
UNION, N.J. (3/28/07) - Senior Mark
Bielicky (Bridgewater, N.J.) recorded five points with two
goals and three assists to lead tenth ranked Stevens Institute of
Technology to a 16-6 victory over Kean University in men's lacrosse
Skyline Conference action Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni
Stadium.
Senior Steve Gill (Patchogue, N.Y.) had a
team-high two goals for the Cougars (5-2, 1-1 Skyline). Freshman
Josh Holmes (North Kingstown, R.I.) had a
game-high three goals in the win for the Ducks (6-2, 4-0
Skyline).
Stevens scored early and often notching three goals in the first
five minutes of action, while totaling an uncontested seven in the
first quarter. The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the second
quarter as Gill took a pass from junior Dennis Lukacsko
(Lincoln Park, N.J.) for a man-up goal. The Ducks led at
the break, 10-2.
Kean recorded four goals to close out the game, including two in
the final minute of play.
Senior Patrick Bailey (Manassas, Va.) tallied two goals and an
assist while teammate J.R. Oreskovich (San Diego, Calif.) recorded
one goal and three assists for the Ducks who outshot the Cougars,
44-28.
Goalies Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) and
John Gesumaria (Cranford, N.J.) combined for 19
saves overall with 15 and 4 respectively in the loss for Kean.
Senior Jack Dunderdale (Ridgefield, Conn.) had
nine saves for Stevens in just over 39 minutes of action.
Kean will continue conference play and head to the road to take on
USMMA-Kings Point on Saturday, March 31st at 2 p.m.
