Late Surge Sends Kean to Victory

Joeline Bennett (Willingboro, N.J.) notched a
game-high five goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team
defeated Western Connecticut State University, 15-10, Sunday
afternoon in a rescheduled game.
The Cougars, who outshot WCSU by just one shot, improve to 3-3 on
the season. The Colonials, who held a 26-21 advantage in
groundballs, fall to 0-4.
After battling to a 7-7 tie at the break, the Colonials went ahead
9-7 early in the second half. But the Cougars responded, outscoring
WCSU 8-1 over the final 22 minutes of action.
Offensively Stephanie Cirrino (Warminster, Pa.)
recorded four goals and an assist while senior Gio Buono
(Plainsboro, N.J.) and freshman Ashley Reynolds
(Old Bridge, N.J.) had three goals each.
Senior Lydia Pinto (Clark, N.J.) picked up the win
in goal. Pinto had five saves in the final 30 minutes of play.
Kean will open Skyline Conference play on Friday, April 6th as they
travel to Hoboken, N.J. to take on Stevens Institute of Technology
at noon.
