HOBOKEN, N.J. (4/6/07) - The Kean University women's lacrosse team battled Stevens Institute of Technology to a 3-3 tie at intermission before being outscored 12-1 in the second half, as the Cougars fell to the host Ducks in Skyline Conference action on Friday afternoon.

For the Cougars (3-4, 0-1 Skyline), senior goalkeeper Lydia Pinto (Clark, N.J.) stopped 12 shots as four different Kean players score goals.

The Cougars took the early 1-0 lead less than 90 seconds into the contest, as sophomore attack Stephanie Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) scored.  Stevens (5-5, 1-1 Skyline) scored a pair of goals to regain the lead and the Ducks had a 3-2 lead with less than 30 seconds left in the first half before Kean senior attack  Gio Buono (Plainsboro, N.J.) tied it up with 11 seconds left in the half.

Stevens took the lead for good 1:48 into the second half as junior attack Liz Mather (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) found freshman midfielder Kara Borzillo (Mount Laurel, N.J.) for her fifth goal of the season.  Just over five minutes later, freshman midfielder Alyssa Pigott (Jobstown, N.J.) tallied an unassisted goal to push the lead to 5-3.

The Ducks increased the lead to 8-3 before Kean freshman attack Joeline Bennett (Willingboro, N.J.) scored to pull within 8-4.  However, the perennial conference contender scored seven straight goals over the final 14:37 of game action to pull away.

Freshman attack Ashley Reynolds (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored a goal for the Cougars.

Freshman attack Katie Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.)  finished the contest with four goals to lead the Ducks.  Mather totaled three goals and three assists for a game-high six points.
