Cirino Leads Cougars Past Centenary in Skyline

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (4/10/07) - Sophomore attack
Stephanie Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) scored four
goals and added two assists to help lead the Kean University
women's lacrosse team to a 13-9 victory over Centenary College in
Skyline Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
Cirino was one of three Cougars (4-4, 1-1 Skyline) with four
goals, while Megan Mars (Jackson, N.J.) and
Michelle Garone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) each had
three goals for the Cyclones (3-5, 0-4 Skyline).
The Cougars took an early 3-1 lead as freshman attacks
Ashley Reynolds (Old Bridge, N.J.) and
Joeline Bennett (Willingboro, N.J.) combined for
three goals. Centenary responded with three unanswered goals
to take a brief 4-3 lead before the Cougars tallied four of the
final six goals of the first half for an 7-6 lead at intermission.
Kean extended the lead to 9-6 on goals by Reynolds and Bennett
to open the second half and had four of the first give goals of the
half to pull away for their first Skyline victory of the season.
Bennett and Reynolds each finished with four goals for Kean,
while senior keeper Lydia Pinto (Clark, N.J.) made
six saves in the victory.
For Centenary, Laura Davis made 20 saves in the
losing effort.
The Cougars return to action on Thursday, April 12, when they
travel to Madison, N.J., for a non-conference match against
FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m.
