Women's Lacrosse Falls at FDU-Florham, 22-9
MADISON, N.J. (4/12/07) - Senior attack
Gio Buono (Plainsboro, N.J.) score five goals,
however the Kean University women's lacrosse team fell to
FDU-Florham, 22-9, on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
After the Cougars (4-5) pulled to within 2-1 on Buono's first goal
of the game just 4:01 into the contest, the Devils (4-6) scored
five straight goals to extend their lead to 7-1 less than 10
minutes into the game. Buono scored twice within a four
minute span to cut the deficit to 8-3, however FDU-Florham scored
seven unanswered goals to end the half and take a 15-3 into the
break.
In the second half, Kean tallied four of the final five goals
for the game's final margin.
For Kean, freshman attack Joeline Bennett (Willingboro,
N.J.) added three goals and an assist. In goal,
senior Lydia Pinto (Clark, N.J.) and freshmen
Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and
Lauren Janousek (Yardville, N.J.) combined to make
14 saves in goal.
FDU-Florham was led by midfielder Lindsey
Specht's six goals.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, April 14, when they
take on Montclair State University in Skyline Conference action at
1 p.m.
