Kean Edges Maritime In Men's Lacrosse

Throggs Neck, N.Y. (4/14/07) - It took all 60
minutes, but Kean held on and edged Skyline Conference foe Maritime
College, 18-17, Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Cougars improve to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in
conference action.
It was a day of ups and downs for the both teams with a neck and
neck battle throughout. Despite the Privateers scoring three goals
to end the first half, the Cougars headed into halftime with an
11-8 lead. Each team would score three goals in the third period,
keep the advantage at three heading into the final period.
Trailing late in the fourth period, the Privateers would score
three quick goals. The small run would bring Maritime
to within one goal, 17-16, but Kean would once again pull away, as
junior attack Dennis Lukacsko (Lincoln Park, NJ)
the game winner with 4:14 left in the game. He led the Cougars with
four goals.
Senior attack Steve Gill (Patchogue, NY) and
freshman midfielder Anthony Bertucci (Edison, NJ)
added three goals each. Freshman attack Scott Leathem (Fair
Lawn, NJ) had a game high three assists for the Cougars.
The freshman attack duo of Lawrence Montreuil (New Hyde
Park, NY) and Max Ferguson (Rockville Centre,
NY) each added three goals for the Privateers, while three
others each had one goal.
Junior Dave Nichols (Florham Park, NJ) made 18
saves in net for the Cougars.
Kean will face off against Richard Stockton College on
Wednesday, April 18th at 7 p.m. at Kean Alumni Stadium.
