Fourth Quarter Sparks Kean Past Stockton,
14-12

(Patchogue, N.Y.) recorded what would be the game winner
with just over one minute to play in the fourth quarter as Kean
University defeated Richard Stockton College, 14-12, Wednesday
evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
With the win the Cougars improve to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in
Skyline Conference action. The loss drops the Ospreys to .500
overall and in conference play (6-6, 4-4).
It was a see-saw affair throughout as neither team gave in
trading goals for much of the game. Kean held a slight edge
at halftime, 6-5.
The fourth quarter proved to be the decider as Kean rallied to
break a 9-9 tie to begin the quarter and two goals in the final two
minutes to seal the win. Senior Mike Tanis (Oak
Ridge, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal with 14:03
remaining to break the tie (10-9). The Cougars and Ospreys
would trade the next four goals, pulling Stockton to within one on
two separate occasions. Gill provided the game winner with
1:21 remaining, his fourth goal of the night. Junior
Kyle Huff (West Caldwell, N.J.) then provided
insurance, marching down the field with his own unassisted goal
just 18 seconds later.
Offensively, junior Dennis Lukascko (Lincoln Park,
N.J.) had four points (2g, 2a) while freshman
Chris DeCarlo (Sandy, Utah) finished with 3 points
(2g, 1a).
In the loss, sophomore Steve Mazurek (Jackson,
N.J.) had a game-high six goals.
Junior Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) had 12
saves for the Cougars in net.
Richard Stockton outshot Kean, 39-36, while the Cougars edged
the Ospreys in groundballs, 38-34.
Kean will head to the road to take on Farmingdale State
University in conference action on Saturday, April 21st at 1 p.m.
