Clark, Richard Lead Kean Surge Past

Richard (Plainfield, N.J.) was 4-for-4 with two triples
while junior Ryan Clark (Livingston, N.J.) was
3-for-3 with 4 RBI as fifth ranked Kean University defeated
Centenary College, 16-7, Tuesday afternoon at Jim Hynes Stadium.
The win improves the Cougars to 25-6 overall while the loss
drops the Cyclones to 21-10.
Kean raced out to a 9-0 lead after plating four runs in the bottom
of the second and five runs in the bottom of the third.
Freshman Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) got things
started with an RBI double followed by a two RBI double by
Clark. Second baseman Maikel De La Rosa (Newark,
N.J.) rounded out the scoring in the second with an RBI
groundout.
Clark again provided a punch with a two out, two RBI single in the
third. Catcher Kevin O'Neill (Union, N.J.)
then launched his second homerun of the season, a three-run shot to
give Kean a 9-0 advantage.
The Cyclones provided much of their offense in the top of the
fourth, recording four runs. Catcher Adam Achilles
(Forked River, N.J.) launched his own homerun, a two run
shot while Jared Grant (Mount Olive, N.J.) and
Mark Cerrachio (Brick, N.J.) each provided RBI
singles.
Junior Tom Paglione (Hamilton, N.J.) earned his
third win of the season. Paglione (3-0) tossed six plus
innings allowing five runs, two earned, and eight hits.
Sophomore Erik Schmidt (East Stroudsburg, Pa.)
suffered the loss. He allowed nine runs and nine hits in
three innings.
Offensively, O'Neill was 1-for-2 with three RBI and three runs
scored. Sophomore Keith Kwiatek (Raritan,
N.J.) was 1-for-1 with a triple and RBI after entering in
the seventh.
Kean will host FDU-Florham in a rescheduled non-conference game
on Wednesday, April 25th at 3 p.m.
