19 Hit Attack Sends Kean Past FDU-Florham,
13-4
Union, N.J. (4/25/07) - Kean University pounded
out 19 hits en route to a 13-4 victory against visiting FDU-Florham
Wednesday afternoon at Jim Hynes Stadium.
The win gives Kean an overall record of 26-6 while FDU falls to
18-12.
Both teams tacked on single runs in the first inning before the
Cougars broke through with three runs in the bottom of the third to
take the lead for good. Eric Ammirata (Hamilton,
N.J.) drove in what would be the winning run with an RBI
groundout. Later in the inning, senior Aaron Richard
(Plainfield, N.J.) delivered a two RBI single to
rightfield.
The Cougars would go on to plate five runs in the fourth
followed by back-to-back two run innings in the sixth and
seventh.
Sophomore Joe Rizzo (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked
up his third win of the season. Rizzo (3-0) allowed two runs,
one earned, while scattering six hits in seven innings of
work.
Offensively junior Dan Mattonelli (Hamilton,
N.J.) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored while senior Joe
D'Andrea (Hamilton, N.J.) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Maikel De La Rosa (Newark, N.J.), Mike
Shymanski (Edison, N.J.), Derek Gianakas (Edison, N.J.)
and Ammirata all had two RBI in the win.
For the Devils, D.J. Hanna was 3-for-5.
Kean returns to conference action on Thursday, April
26th when they travel to Mahwah, N.J. to take on Ramapo
College, first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.
