COUGARS FALL AT LEBANON VALLEY, 2-1
ANNVILLE, Pa. (9/17/07) - The Kean University
women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to host Lebanon Valley
College in non-conference action on Monday afternoon. The
Cougars dropped their second in a row to fall to 4-2-1, while the
Flying Dutchmen won their third straight to even their record at
3-3.
Kean got on the board first, as sophomore midfielder Jenna
Godwin (Kingwood, N.J.) scored her second goal of the
season in the 32nd minute.
LVC tied the game with just 18 seconds left in the opening half
when junior Emily Bainbridge (Sinking Spring, Pa.)
scored off the assist from senior Kristen Hoover (Muncy,
Pa.).
Freshman Christine Fraser (Sewell, N.J.)
notched the game-winner in the 72nd minute when her shot
tipped off the hands of Kean goalkeeper Nicole Groszew
(Denville, N.J.) and into the net to break the tie.
Groszew made three saves, before freshman Leandra Russo
(Galloway, N.J.) stopped one shot in the final 13 minutes
of action.
Kean held a 13-10 edge in shots, including a 8-3 advantage in
the second half.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September 19, when
they travel to Rutgers-Newark in New Jersey Athletic Conference
action at 7 p.m.
