Cizek Nets Game-Winner in Final Seconds of
Second Overtime
UNION, N.J. (09/26/07) -
Sophomore forward Kristin Cizek (Manalapan, N.J.)
knocked in the game-winner with just 41 seconds left in the second
overtime to lead Kean University to a 1-0 victory over New Jersey
City University in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer
action on Wednesday evening.
Kean (7-2-1, 3-1 NJAC) held a 39-6 advantage in shots, as NJCU
freshman goalkeeper Kelly
Reilly (Pennsville, N.J.) made 21 saves to keep the Gothic
Knights (4-4, 0-3 NJAC) in the contest.
With under a minute left in the final overtime session, Kean
senior midfielder Shannon Blackburn (Vernon, N.J.)
took a shot from the left side of the box that Reilly got her hands
on to save. Cizek picked up the loose ball just inside the
right post and put the ball into the back of the net for a very
timely first goal of her career.
The Cougars, who played without six starters due to injury, also
had a 15-3 edge in corner kicks.
For the Gothic Knights, freshman forward Jennifer Albuja
(Union City, N.J.) had a team-high three shots.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, September 29, when
they travel to Ramapo College in NJAC action at 1 p.m.
