#25 NYU Tops #17 Kean, 3-1, In Men's Soccer

Robert Keller (East Lyme, Conn.) tallied two
unassisted goals, including what would be the game-winner, as New
York University topped Kean University, 3-1, in men's soccer action
Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
The Violets (2-1) recorded the first three goals of
the match. They opened up the scoring as senior
Jeritt Thayer (Corona del Mar, Cal.) deflected the
ball off a corner kick from freshman Anthony Tumbiolo (San
Diego, Cal.) in the thirteenth minute. NYU, who
edged Kean 16-10 in shots, added one more in the first half as
Keller picked up his first goal of the match at 30:52.
Kean (2-1) would score their lone goal of the match at 66:43 as
freshman Jerry Saintil (East Orange, N.J.) took a
pass from senior Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.) on
a free kick.
Junior keeper Chris Wright (Colchester,
Conn.) had just two saves for the Violets in the win while
senior Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.) had four
saves for the Cougars in the loss.
Kean will resume play on Friday, September
7th as they travel to Christopher Newport University to
take on #10 York College, Pa. in the Joe Pombriant/CNU Classic.
